TILBA dairy farmer Robyn Lucas has received the Public Education Ambassador award at the Eurobodalla Learning Community Awards night.

Robyn has assisted and supported both the junior and senior students Agriculture students of Narooma High School department in a range of ways.
Every year the school students from Years7 and 8 participate in an education program ran by Dairy Australia called “Cows Create Careers”.
In this program students take part in the raising of two calves and complete a range of tasks surrounding the development and promotion of dairy products and careers in the industry.
Each year since the school has been involved Robyn has provided the school with the two calves along with much needed support and advice.
Narooma High Agriculture teacher Kylie Maher said Robyn not only allowed the school access to these calves, she also host the school students out to her farm allowing the students to have hands on experience and valuable skills and knowledge of the dairy industry.
Students saw firsthand how a dairy farm is run and even participates in such as milking, calf rearing, AI technician and electric fencing, she said.
Robyn also gives a detailed talk to the senior school allowing them to use her property as there case study, giving them full access to her property and equipment allows the students to achieve outcomes and have a real experience within the dairy industry, she said.
“She makes herself available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to ensure we are able to provide the very best in educational outcomes for our students,” Ag teacher Kylie Maher said.
“She is a regular visitor to Narooma High’s Agricultural department to provide advice and clinical support for animal husbandry.
“Robyn also has currently a student for a school based trainee ship and is a regular workplace for students in year 10 to complete work experience.
“Robyn’s contribution to our school community has been greatly valued and appreciated and we wish to thank her through the presentation of this award.”
