It is filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement of potential new arrivals - and this year is no exception.
Mogo Zoo is proud to announce the addition of its latest cuties.
African lion cubs ‘Chitwa’ and ‘Zuri’, both little girls, were born at the end of July and will make their long awaited debut alongside proud parents, mother ‘Snow’, father ‘Mac’ and the rest of the pride, during the upcoming school holidays.
Mogo Zoo owner Sally Padey said the cubs have been bonding with mum for just over two months now and she is extremely pleased with how ‘Snow’ has continued her role as protector and caregiver.
“She is the best mum and it reminds me of that special relationship that mothers develop with their children from life’s beginning,” Sally said.
“The cubs are full of energy and are now ready to be introduced to the rest of the pride so they can continue to grow and learn in all aspects of life in a pride environment.”
In addition to the cubs making their first time appearance, the Zoo has also enjoyed other great breeding results across a range of species in Spring 2014 and all these babies will be on display during the school holidays.
Little ‘Tuli’, the recently born Rothschild giraffe, also two months old, can now be seen enjoying the surrounds of the savannah with her family.
‘Tuli’ is the fourth Rothschild giraffe to be bred at Mogo Zoo and will play a vital role in the Global Breeding Program into the future but, for now, it’s all fun and frolicking for this leggie bundle of joy.
Other debutants that visitors will be able to view this Spring include Golden Lion Tamarins, Emperor Tamarins and, the newest addition, a gorgeous little Siamang Gibbon, which can be seen clinging on to mum on our Primate Islands.
