Between September 18 and 19, council contractors will remove two trees at Ted Street Park and five at the rear of the Leisure Centre and prune the mature Bangalay tree there before it replenishes the area with the new plantings.
Narooma Streetscaping Sunset Advisory Committee chairman and mayor Lindsay Brown said he was looking forward to the completion of the work along the Flat and the project had been a great success.
“The $4.6 million project began in 2012 and by December will see Narooma revitalised with new pathways, benches, signs, more long-vehicle parking, over 100 new native trees and 12,000 shrubs and a children’s play space as well as the new roundabout, pedestrian refuge and shared pedestrian and cyclist pathways,” Clr Brown said.
“It has been an amazing transformation project that has really had the community on board and the members of the sunset committee are very pleased with the outcome so far.”
