ON Sunday police stopped an L-plater on the Princes Highway for a Random Breath Test. The learner driver returned a negative breath test but it was a different story for the driver’s supervisor. When police tested the learner’s driver supervisor, the 48 year old man returned a positive reading. He was arrested and returned to Narooma Police Station where he recorded a blood alcohol reading of .085. The man was charged with a mid-range PCA to appear in the Narooma local area court in October.
Kayak stolen
A GREEN kayak was stolen from a home in Canty Street, Narooma sometime between 1pm on Wednesday morning and 9am on Friday. Does anyone know of someone that may have acquired a green kayak recently? Beware it may be stolen.
Woman extradited to Queensland
ON Tuesday morning round 7.30am Narooma police attended a Bermagui address and arrested a 36-year-old Bermagui woman wanted by Queensland police on fraud related offences. The woman was arrested and taken to Batemans Bay. Police officers have subsequently flown here and extradited the woman back to Qld.
Mowed over
MORE than $9,000 of outdoor machinery was stolen from a garage in Bermagui sometime between midday on Saturday and Monday morning. Among the items stolen were a ride-on lawn mower, a self-propelled lawn mower, chainsaw and rotary hoe.
School holiday tragedy
A CHILD has died after a sand dune collapsed on the Far South Coast on Monday. At 2.45pm (Monday, September 22) emergency services were called to Terrace Beach, Eden.
Police have been told the 10-year-old Wyndham boy was trapped when a sand dune he was digging in collapsed.
Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the child at the scene before he was transported by road to Pambula Hospital in a critical condition.
The boy died a short time later before he was able to be airlifted to Canberra Hospital.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
