Inspiringly, organiser Anna Rogerson is just 11 years old, and has organised the event in support of family friend Matt Ratcliffe.
“We decided to organise this, because our friend has MND,” she said.
“They don’t want money, so we’re giving it all to Motor Neurone Disease NSW.”
Proud mum Jane Rogerson said Anna had been organising meetings every couple of weeks.
Registration is from 8am with a 9am start and entry fee is $20.
“When you enter, you receive a sticker, a cap, surfboard wax and a donation goes to MND,” Anna said.
“The kids get to surf and the adults do an ice-bucket challenge, for a gold coin donation. It will be running all day.”
Surfing involves an expression session, a randomly-chosen teams event, a sand-castle building competition, and lots of prizes.
Prizes include weekends away, movie tickets, RipCurl products, and more.
Thanks major sponsors Cadgee Concrete and Narooma Plaza, also to Narprint, Badman Ink, Murramarang Resort, Island View and South Coast SUP.
Anna has been working with a committee including Jess and Deano Loudoun, Leichelle and Macca McCaughtrie, Mick Anderson and Podge Rogerson.
