Not content with just having a golf day, there will also be a gala dinner following the day!
“We’re so pleased to work together on this event, which sees funds raised directed to cancer research projects in the fight against all cancers,” community relations coordinator for Cancer Council NSW Sarah Flynn said. “We fund exceptional research and are making great strides by developing better treatments, improved diagnostics and other innovations.”
The event is an initiative of the Narooma Golf Club, to provide a fun golf day and dinner to locals and visitors alike, while giving the community an opportunity to fundraise for a cause that affects so many in the area.
Jessica Croser of Narooma Golf Club said, “We do a Daffodil Day stall every year but wanted to do something big; something that really makes a difference to cancer patients and carers in our community.
“This event will ensure the Cancer Council NSW can continue to fund research projects and also develop much-needed services in our own local area. We’d love to see the community out in force for this fundraiser!”
In 2014 Cancer Council NSW will be funding 16 new research projects to the tune of $15M.
Projects include discovering the biology behind uterine cancer, studying the relationships between genetics and cancer cell behaviour and improving the effectiveness of radiotherapy treatments for cancer patients just to name a few.
The Charity Golf Day & Gala Dinner will cost $85 for both or $45 for either event.
