Due to the great turnout of members we were able to field two teams, supply bowling expertise to two other teams and have two support personnel to provide the much needed refreshments and verbal encouragement.
Unfortunately it quickly became evident why the members had chosen paddling over bowling as their chosen sport. Thankfully the day was all about having fun and raising money for charity so we felt quite at home on that score.
As the day progressed there was some noticeable improvement in team members’ play.
Special mention goes to Libby (the burglar) Shortridge who managed on a number of occasions to sneak in and take the points, Helen (the princess) Hayes as the most improved player who was overheard to say “That is a broken ball that one”, and Judy (perfect bias) Whiting who managed to get her bowl closest to the Jack Finally, team skips Heather and Don did a great job leading their respective teams.
Many thanks go to the Dalmeny Deviates who organized a terrific day – see you next year!
