The move is the coup de grace for the disastrous Breakfast Show, which originally featured former Spice Girl Mel B, Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts and Jules Lund and was launched to much fanfare at the beginning of the year.
The show, which has turned in lame ratings figures ever since, suffered a lingering death with the departure of two of its original stars.
Mel B was the first to pull the pin at the end of her six-month contract, then Monk announced last weekend that she, too, was headed for the exit, blaming the early starts for her decision.
It's an embarrassing blow for 2Day owners SCA, who were pinning their hopes on the four-handed team to peg back the ratings machine of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson. Sandilands and Henderson were the jewel in Today's crown until they headed over to upstart Kiis FM at the beginning of the year, taking most of their listeners with them.
Completing the deckchair shuffle, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, presently on air between 3pm and 4pm, will return in July to the Drive slot they previously occupied for five years.
Lund will keep the Drive seat warm in the meantime, leaving Watts without a spot in the reshuffle.
However, SCA stressed he was "much-loved" and that there would be an "exciting announcement" for him soon.
SCA Sydney chief Guy Dobson was upbeat about the turmoil, calling it a "great day" for the station.
