As is tradition, the night started out with photos at Rotary Park with stunning Wagonga Inlet as a backdrop while some students this year even arrived via the Narooma Horse & Carriage ride.
There are 59 Year 12 students graduating this year and perhaps no one was prouder than their year advisor Sally Jeffrey who has looked after the students throughout their high school careers over the past six years.
“They are a very cohesive group and very caring of one another,” she said.
“They’ve had many big challenges helping each other out along the way. Some I never expected to make to the end of Year 12 and I’m so happy they all got to this point.”
The Year 12s completed their final HSC exam last week and now will wait for their results that are due out on December 17 with the ATAR university entrance scores out the next day.
Principal Tony Fahey meanwhile was also very proud that several of the students had already been accepted to university, listing off several top achievers.
Kyle McEvoy with his traditional gaming table had been shortlisted as the best HSC woodworking project, while Jay Walpole had received a prestigious Dean’s Scholarship to Wollongong University.
Chris Reid has been accepted into Charles Sturt University at Bathurst to study journalism, while Kee-Anna Patton was headed to Tocal to study agriculture.
Molly Wharfe and Meg Gill were headed to the University of Wollongong and Robert Kenna was going to the ANU in Canberra.
Providing the entertainment at the formal held upstairs in the Bluewater Room at the Narooma Golf Club were Samantha Sly as well as Ali Casu and Sam Hodge.
A group of students in teacher Dion Café’s class presented him with a proper trophy that he can use for next year’s Year 12s.
He does a weekly test on his final year students called the “HSC Cup” testing them on their HSC knowledge but up until now has been only awarding a milkshake cup, so now he has a proper trophy.
