New season of paddling for Blue Water Dragons

NAROOMA Blue Water Dragons kicked off the new paddling season with a joint training session with regatta partners, Sapphire Water Dragons from Merimbula.

The two clubs have developed close ties over the past two seasons joining together for regattas at Nowra, Canberra and Jindabyne.

Paddlers from both clubs also participated in the Southern Warriors squad that competed at the 2011 Australian Masters Games in Adelaide as well as the NSW Southern Region team that competed at the state championships in 2011 and 2012 and the national championships in 2011.

The two clubs not only compete together but have organised a number of social paddling days and this season new club captain Gilly Kearney has held discussions with Sapphire Water club captain Mary Balmain about a number of social paddling days including an upcoming weekend paddle at Mallacoota.

Blue Water Dragons are always keen to promote inter-club paddling and hope to organise an event on Wagonga Inlet later in the season.

The Narooma paddlers are currently preparing for the Shoalhaven Regatta at Nowra to be held in September and will hold another joint training day, this time in Merimbula, before the event.
