CRABS president Mike Power presented cheques totalling $15,000 to Cancer Council NSW community relations coordinator Sarah Flynn from the Bega office.

The presentations brought total donations from CRABS for cancer research and assistance to local families affected by cancer to an incredible $200,000 in less than five years.

Speaking at the presentation, Mike Power expressed his thanks to the Far South Coast community, the many businesses and individuals throughout our region, for their seemingly endless capacity to support good causes.

“Virtually everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer,” he said.

“We are a small group and are committed to making a difference and we are blessed with fantastic on-going support from our local community.

“I would also like to especially thank all members of CRABS for their enthusiasm and hard work to make all of our achievements possible.”

Sarah Flynn said: “The efforts of the CRABS and like-minded individuals will ensure our organisation’s capacity can continue delivery of high quality cancer research; provide support; change social and environmental conditions to better promote health; and ensure no-one faces a cancer diagnosis alone”.

Mike Power said that the fundraising momentum continued with a major raffle for a brand new boat and trailer now underway.

This latest boat raffle will be drawn at next year’s fourth CRABS Bike Show to be held in Bermagui on Saturday, May 28.
