The Trail maps locations along Australia’s Oyster Coast from where visitors can experience the oyster industry first hand by sampling genuine Oyster Coast produce, and participating in related activities such as lease excursions and estuary tours.
The primary stops on the Trail are the farms and shopfronts of oyster farmers who sell their produce direct to the public. It's in these locations where the freshest, highest quality oysters can be sampled.
Australia's Oyster Coast comprises eight oyster-growing estuaries. Extending from the Shoalhaven and Crookhaven rivers in the north, to Wonboyn lake near the Victorian border, each estuary is a unique ecosystem producing oysters of different taste and appeal.
The summer campaign marks the first time Australia’s Oyster Coast has invited other businesses along the South Coast to join them as partners of the Trail.
"We’re excited to be partnering with such a terrific range of food providers, restaurants, accommodation and other tourism initiatives whose reputation for consistently high quality product and services are known," said Andrew Wales, Executive Officer of Australia’s Oyster Coast.
"It strengthens the Trail and broadens its appeal to a wider audience, including a potential international market."
These partners are also mapped on the Oyster Trail, helping Australia's Oyster Coast to deliver a complete food-wine-activity-accommodation experience for visitors.
"We’re proud to be involved with Australia’s Oyster Coast’s Oyster Trail," said Shane Buckley, owner of the Bermagui Oyster Room.
"We’ve noticed the gourmet getaway is becoming increasingly popular. Freshness, flavour, understanding where your food is grown and by whom all matter to our customers.
"The Oyster Trail makes it easy for visitors to access the best of what the region has to offer and aligns well with our own objectives."
The expansion of the Trail and its summer campaign coincides with commencement of Australia’s Oyster Coast plans to export oysters to Asian markets in 2015.
