The winch handle on the empty, unmarked trailer was taken and someone attempted to cut through the winch strap.
Head lifeguard Stan Wall said the Tuross Marine Rescue unit has provided a winch handle so the trailer can continue to be used and a report has been made to police.
Eurobodalla Lifeguard Services has been contracted by Eurobodalla Shire Council to cover popular beaches during the week when Surf Life Saving volunteers were unavailable.
Beaches covered include Narooma, Dalmeny, Tuross, south Moruya and for the first time north Moruya, as well beaches to the north.
This year, the shire has been split into a northern and southern zone and the supervisor of the southern zone happens to be Narooma area local Lewis Robertson.
