The Narooma Golf Club slopes and fairways around the club house were absolutely packed as the 9pm fireworks signalled the end of 2014.
The pubs and clubs meanwhile were also jumping as the Narooma district continues to enjoy a bumper holiday season with most locals agreeing this is one of the busiest ever in a while – crazy busy in fact.
The night was not all smooth sailing with several thefts reported from campgrounds around town reported to police including a camping fridge and a number of bicycles. Police remind locals and visitors to secure belongings and not to leave valuables in plain sight.
There was an altercation at the Dalmeny campground between campers and a group of four locals.
One local female was allegedly seen running around in her underwear, throwing a garbage bin and being generally unruly.
Police arrived and a confrontation ensued after they refused to comply with a move-on direction. A local male was arrested and the woman capsicum was sprayed.
Both were taken to the Narooma police station and investigations continue.
The only other matter of note was a report of a young woman at Bermagui who became unconscious from suspected alcohol poisoning and was transported to hospital.
There were no incidents on the roads in the regions and across the state motorists were generally well-behaved with only 24 incidents of drink driving.
