Great weather, cheap fuel and low dollar have conspired to bring in the masses, now if only the fishing and in particular the kingfish could have been better.
Never mind, the fish will come on when all the visitors have gone home – all the better for us locals!
The towns seem to be still hopping with visitors but I guess as the chamber of commerce presidents say, the real test will be whether the crowds stick around for the rest of January and even February.
It is only these weeks that will make it a really successful holiday or not.
The retailers and service people all look a bit frazzled so you know it’s been a good one, but this is when they earn their money and there will be plenty of time for rest later.
It was disappointing to hear of the thefts around the campgrounds but this happens every year and always seems to be when things are left unattended.
I guess the thieves can’t resist the temptation of an iPhone or bike left in plain sight and therefore unfortunately it falls to the rest of us not to leave things lying around.
On a more positive note, miraculously there were no major incidents on our roads and waterways and that is great news with no injuries or accidents to report – well done everyone behind the wheel.
Finally, congratulations to everyone that backed a winner in the Club Narooma Cup!
