Wednesday, January 21: After rain and storms abated, the greens drained, 54 bowlers then sweltered in the humid conditions. The day was a Maggsy Pick and that pick was highest number of shots scored over five mystery ends. The winners were the side of Allan Chisolm, Peter McKay and John Downie scoring 12 shots on mystery ends. The second placed side was Peter James, Greg Ryan and John Spees with 11 mystery end shots. The resting toucher prize winner on the day; a day of late resting touchers; was John Spees with toucher achieved at 1335 hours.
Friday, January 23: Another humid day with 10 bowlers braving the conditions. The winners were Tony Palmer and Dave Reiff 18 shots over Carol Rogerson and John Downie 15.
Saturday, January 24: 30 bowlers nominated for the afternoon social bowls although one of those who nominated was forced to scratch because he was not allowed to play bowls and then go to the wedding he had forgotten about. He will write himself a note next time. Anyway, the bowlers beat the storms and the winners were Peter Robson and John Lonergan 25 shots defeating Neville Mitchell and Bill Buhagiar 23 shots. The afternoon runners-up were Glen Shaw, Murray Dobson and Allen Shaw (all visitors from Junee) with 26 shots over Carl Lee, Paul Naylor and Craig Williams 15. On Saturday there is District Matches played at Narooma so only one green will be available, which means get your names in early.
Sunday, January 25: The bowlers Australia Celebration Day mixed bowls attracted heaps of players for a day when having fun was compulsory with a great number bowlers dressed up in an attempt to win the best dressed Aussie prize. The winners of those prizes were ladies first prize going to Aurelia Robinson, very Aussie indeed, and runner-up Gail Palmer close behind. The men's winner was Gerry Simmons, wearing a Bonds navy blue work singlet a pair of boxer shorts and work boots which was very much unlike the usually smart Gerry. The runner-up was Peter Robson dressed as Super Aussie.
A lot of pies, sausage rolls and lamingtons (cooked by Cuddles Bender) were eaten as the games progressed. The winners were decided by the highest amount of shots scored on five mystery ends. The team to achieve that feat was Aurelia Robinson, Greg Ryan and Leila Gosper with 12 shots scored on the mystery ends. The second placed team was Gail Palmer, Bev Kellerman and Shirley Pilgrim with seven accumulated shots. We must not forget Gail and Greg Riley for their efforts with the Pavlova.
Until next time this is "Ditch Rink and Jaik" signing off and wishing everybody a great Australia Day,
Narooma women’s bowls
NUMBERS were light last Tuesday, due to a number of teams competing in District Triples events. Those 'back at home' enjoyed a lovely morning of social triples and pairs with Pat Wood and Merrie Downie sharing skip duties in their game. No prize money was given, the raffle donated by Rapley's Mid Town Meats was won by Denise Holman.
Happy Birthday and best wishes go to Sandra Breust and Daphne Radburn for tomorrow – have a great day.
Novice Singles
Rounds three and four scheduled to continue tomorrow.

Dalmeny women's bowls
WITH quite a number of girls away playing District Bowls there was only a small field on Tuesday. Winning the day on lucky rinks were Gail Farrell and Robin Gourley. There was no second prize this week. Lois McGregor won the Spider with a wicked wick. The raffles were won by Eileen and Anne. Many happy returns to Norma Hutson and Barbara Pearce for this week. Having not seen a Resting Toucher for a while, Robin and Gail outshone with their bowling. Robin had the first Rester of the day followed very shortly with Gail having two more during the game. Because of the "SKILL" shown by both the Resting Toucher Prize money was shared by Robin. The Wood Bennett Day at Narooma has been cancelled this year. It was to be played on the 10th. However the Bermagui ladies are coming on the 10th for a fun day and a feel of the grass under their feet. Put your names down for this game and join the fun.
The next quarterly meeting is on Wednesday, February 4 at 10am. Our thoughts are with Lyn Goldsmith while she waits for test results, and as always we are all thinking of anyone who is sick.
