Thanks goodness the police have now laid charges against the individuals believed to be responsible.
We are so lucky to live in this community where violent crime is very unusual and hence gets the front page attention.
We hope it can be kept this way for a long, long time.
Some of our reporting on the crime saw comments made on social media about the drug ice and its supposed increasing use and associated problems.
This is probably worth some more investigation to see if police do believe it is a problem specifically in the Narooma area and what can be done to prevent more ice-associated crime.
If anything, it would be good to see some more mental health resources available to help people caught up in the drug and also their friends and families left behind.
We hope you had a special Australia Day celebrating with friends and family – too bad it could not have been sunny but it is great to be getting all this moisture.
You may be sick of all the rain but just think of the alternative – a horrible drought with long, hot days and extreme fire danger – give me cool and moist any day!
