This was the main qualifying race for the world triathlon championships held in Chicago later this year.
Sally said that winning this title was particularly satisfying as she was supposed to compete in this event last year but fell seriously ill the week before and was unable to compete.
Sally is also leading the point score in the Elite Energy triathlon series with three races left to finish.
“My main focus after the season is over will be preparing for the World Duathlon in Adelaide in October,” Sally said.
Sally and her husband Richard are the Australian Duathlon Champions for the duathlon.
Richard competed in the Australian Oceania Cross Triathlon at Lake Crackenback on the weekend.
Richard won the title last year and this year won his age group again.
“He actually improved his time from last year by a couple of minutes,” wife Sally said.
“It is a gruelling course involving a 1500 swim, 30km mountain bike course and a very challenging 10 km trail run.
“Our success is largely due to the support and encouragement we give each another in both training and competing.
“It requires a disciplined training regime to achieve what we have both done, but we seem to thrive on it,” she said.
