The Nippers were thoroughly inspired by the warm and friendly face from the top level of Surf Lifesaving competition.
The rain held off for a great day of questions, autographs, board skills training and techniques in both the water and on the sand.
Second Place at Bermi Junior Carnival
The results for the first junior carnival at Bermagui have been collated and Narooma came second overall.
This is an amazing result and we are sure this is due to the improved skills of many of the Nippers and the sheer number of competitors from Narooma. Congratulations to everyone who attended you all came together as a team and achieved an incredible result. Second place is not one that Narooma has seen in recent years.
There are some fantastic placings across all age groups and many from kids in their debut carnival… We can't wait for the Broulee Carnival next month.
State Titles
Good luck to the Narooma Surf Club members who are travelling to Umina to compete in the 2015 NSW Surf Life Saving Championships at Ocean Beach.
The event attracts more than 7000 competitors from all over NSW, along with 600 volunteer officials and up to 15,000 family and spectators.
Lifesavers on tour
A group of dedicated volunteers, including Narooma club member Joe Halsey, took part in last month's Lifesaving Exchange Program, where participants from the city spent time patrolling Byron Bay and Ballina beaches, while their country counterparts tried their hand at Bondi and Maroubra.
Joe's experiences have been published in the SLS NSW publication 'Beyond the Flags' in Issue 5. Go online to see Joe's experiences at Bondi via the SLS NSW website.
Last week of Nippers
This coming Sunday is the final Nippers in Narooma for the season. Come along for a fun-filled final meet on our beach for the season.
A word of warning to our age managers, helpers and water safety crew - a little stretching beforehand might be in order. Yes its team’s week and that means an all age relay is on the cards.
The calendar originally had another week to go but we have a big chunk of Narooma’s water safety team attending the State Titles in Umina that weekend. Patrols continue until Anzac Day so if the conditions are good, you can still make the most of the clubhouse and equipment on Saturday’s and Sunday’s swimming between the flags.
