Pigfish, blackfish and whiting were drawn from the hat.

Phil Boneham took out the blackfish prize and the ever-consistent Dale Evans reeled in a whiting and blackfish to take both prizes.

Boneham ventured offshore and scored the blue water prize, weighing in a 1.25kg snapper.

Caleb Long was junior cock-o-the-walk with a salmon of 1.22kg and Andrew Rose won the senior cock-o-the-walk, and the rock, beach and estuary prize with a 1.7kg drummer.

Autumn usually brings settled, cool weather and ideal fishing conditions. 

Kingfish are on the move and dolphinfish, marlin and sailfish are wide off the Bay and Tomakin.

Blackfish are on the move since the recent rain and should soon answer to their favourite food, sea cabbage or green weed. 

The club is preparing for its Rae Kennedy Memorial Competition, to be held on Easter Sunday.

It’s one of the club’s major annual events.

Rae, husband Noel, and son Tony were regular competitors in monthly competitions and it will be a good way for locals and visitors to pay tribute to Rae.

There will be cash prizes for many selected species and a small entry fee for senior and junior fishos.

The regular monthly competition will be held on April 12.
