Ali Elmasri will fight at the Souths Juniors Club in Sydney on April 16 where he will face off against Mike Booth in the middleweight division.
“It’s not all about the results, it’s about the commitment, training well and a healthy lifestyle,” coach Scott Wharfe said.
Ali works at Rapley’s Midtown Quality Meats and butcher Jeff Rapley is sponsoring his trip to Sydney.
Scott encouraged any boxing fans to come to the fight around 7pm and tickets were available online or he could be contacted at the Narooma police station.
Fellow Narooma Boxing Club member, Ken “The Great White Hope” White is heading to the Australian Masters Games in Adelaide in October.
Ken will fight in the over 61 age category in the light heavyweight division and has for the last eight months been training with Scott and his fellow Narooma boxers, having no prior boxing experience.
“His fitness is amazing for his age and it just goes to show that sparring and boxing is for all ages,” Scott said.
“I think he is going to be pretty tough competitor for whoever he faces.”
The town of Narooma has a long connection with boxing with promoter and trainer Mark Zielinski having produced talent such as Leroy “Bad Boy” Brown.
