ON Saturday the Narooma Devils hosted the Moruya Sharks team at Bill Smyth Oval, Narooma. The young Devils team played well despite the long Easter Break from training and playing. Travis, Daniel, Mystery and Jyarah played their best games for the year with the whole team showing improvement in running the ball and defence. Narooma scored eight tries to the Moruya three and kicked four conversions. Try scorers were Sam (3), Jyarah, Rueben, Daniel, Mystery and Luke. Riley was again solid running the ball, Isla and Milo scrambled well in defence, with Sonny, Tom and Joey trying all game. We tried a few things that threw the team out of whack, but it was pleasing to see how the team kept trying. Very important the whole team to get to training on Friday even though there is no game on the Anzac weekend.

U10s
THE U10s Junior Devils played Moruya on Saturday. The Moruya side were down a few players and made up their numbers with younger players to give everybody a run.
The Devils started the game with a quick try and Moruya never recovered. The Devils had good team work and good passing which resulted in the Devils scoring some good tries, backed up with excellent goal kicking the score built up.
Some terrific individual ties in the second half had the Devils running away with a big win Narooma 58, Moruya 6.
All players played well, but Byron Lonsdale-Patten, Malaki Moreton, Ethan Griffiths and Bryce Hastie stood out.
U16s
THE U16 Devils team lost a few of their key players and their coaches during the week and came up against a determined Moruya team. The boys never gave up and came back just before half time to go into the break being down 16-4 down. Moruya put on four more tries in the second half winning 34-4. Silly mistakes and the inability to get the ball more than two passes wide in attack didn’t allow the Narooma team to get on top. Young Bunney tried hard all day as did Parsons and Thomas. It was frustrating to watch a team with such potential and character not get a better result. Get to training boys!
