Narooma Whales bow out for season 2012

THE Club Narooma Whales played their last game of 2012 when they were knocked out of the South Coast Rugby Union competition by Milton by the score of 35-13 last Saturday at Hanging Rock, Batemans Bay.

As has been the pattern this season there was only one reserve and this had an impact on the game when in the second half two players had to leave the field injured. With only 14 on the paddock and couple of those being walking wounded the Milton Platypus were able to score a couple of late tries to seal what had been a close game until the last ten or fifteen minutes.

At half time the score was 6-7 in favour of Milton courtesy of a couple of penalty goals by Nathan Carpenter to a converted try.

The game was nip and tuck but injuries forced off Ethan Parsons and the Narooma loose head prop, which allowed Milton to use their superior numbers to get a well-deserved win.

Stephen Brown scored a well taken try, following up a well-judged kick by Nathan¸ who converted. However, this was not enough to stop Milton advancing to the final of the plate on Saturday.

The boys can take heart from the fact that only one of the four semi-finalists did not forfeit a game. Despite their difficulties the Whales played every game which is a testament to the spirit of the players this season. Well done and plans are afoot for a better season in 2013.

To all of our supporters who have stuck by us through thick and thin thanks and of course a special thanks to our sponsors without whom we would not have been able to put a team on the park every week.
