SPRING was in the air as the Narooma Numnutz wrapped up the 2012 winter swimming season on Father’s Day.
Raw Prawn Bistro chef Scott Cavanagh received the Narooma Numnut of the Year trophy for his fabulous soups and breakfasts that the swimmers have enjoyed at O’Briens Hotel after each swim over the past five years.
The highest water temperature during the season was 18deg, and the lowest 13deg, with a five-day run at 14deg, and another three days at 13deg.
Three of our number achieved a perfect attendance record for all 18 swims: Raymond Hirst, Graham Spicer, and Wally Warboys.
They were followed on the attendance table by: Chris Black on 17; Paul O’Brien and Greg Willis on 15; Steve Dobson on 14; Podge Rodgerson and Scotty Cavanagh on 13; Stan Gorton and Kye Young on 12; Johnny Rozs, Brent Lockton and Glenn Bywater on 11; Jason Hextell on 9; Bailey O’Brien on 8; Ben Rodgerson on 7; Anna Rodgerson and Lana Rodgerson on 6; Ben Stainer on 5; Gene Willis on 4; Billy Stainer on 3; Jacob Bywater on 2; and Elizabeth Downie with her one appearance.
The Numnutz are now set to head off to the Gold Coast next week to compete in the Australian Winter Swimming Championships.
