The 30-year-old man from Bega told police he fell asleep while driving north.
His Ford Falcon sedan ran off the highway around 8am, sliding down an embankment and onto the swampy lakebed.
Ambulance paramedics treated the man while the Narooma RFS bridgade secured the scene.
The driver was transported to Moruya hospital with non-life threatening impact injuries and released later that day.
This appears to be another instance of a driver being claimed by a microsleep after a Narooma local slid off the highway near Tuross Head on March 28.
Gabe Eichler wrote about the experience when her mother fell asleep at the wheel, warning of the dangers of driving while tired.
Fortunately they emerged from the accident unscathed.
"Have a serious think if travelling on the highways, to include periods of rest to STOP REVIVE SURVIVE and or change drivers. We survived this micro-sleep, but will there be a next time!"
