Despite having a much smaller budget, and perhaps because of that smaller budget, the festival had a great community feel.
Yes there were some things that could be improved as is the case every year, but everyone seemed to have a good time with lots of oysters and other food consumed.
The recycled artwork in the parade and the big mutant octopus were wonderful this year, as was the music and in particular Tommy M and the Mastersounds whop rocked the foreshore as they played out the festival.
Let’s hope that next year there are more entrants in the boat building competition and maybe the parade can be expanded.
On a much more serious note, anyone who has been impacted on by the drug ice or feels like they can contribute toward the problem should consider attending Friday’s forum up at the Bay.
It is great to see the Narooma based Katungul organisation taking the lead and this and other health issues that in the end will help not just the Koori community but the wider community as well.
Also, don’t trust your tired self if you are driving as there was another highway accident related to fatigue – just pull over and have a quick nap if you are feeling tired!
