Narooma versus Pambula/Merimbula 1st Grade
The Narooma Devils first grade had two key players pull out at the last minute with injuries. Todd Wright and Riley Hextell were sorely missed. Chopper is still out with injury. In the first five minutes the Doggies scored 6-0. The Devils player’s hopes dropped but they came good with a handy kick from Clint to Ali Elmasri, who gathered and scored in the corner; the score Merimbula 6 Narooma 4.

With momentum the Devils way Tyson Moritz went over twice within 15 minutes and Brenden Harper converted them Narooma 16 Doggies 6.
This game was also very fiery with a player from each team given 10 in the bin. The doggies scored again just before half time Narooma 16 Doggies 12.
It was a tough game and no one was giving in. No-one scored for 15 minutes then Merimbula scored 16 all, and again 20 to Narooma 16.
Ryan Weymouth sored in the corner for the Devils to even up the score. The Devils kept going with young Trey Parsons going over for a try and Brenden kicked the goal Devils 26 Doggies 20.
The Devils were leading and Narooma pushed hard but not able to score again. Merimbula scored the final try of the game drawing 26 all.

Narooma Ladies Tag Team
IF you were not at Bill Smyth last Sunday, you missed out on the electrifying League Tag girls keeping their number one spot on the ladder and their undefeated record as they smashed the Bemboka girls 64-8. After that they took on the Merimbula team and gave them an 84-8 hiding.
This is a serious team; they are going from strength to strength and are showing that they are the team to beat this year.
The team welcomed back Tegan Mundy on the weekend and she also showed that she still had the skills and domination she had produce earlier. This team shows its pride on their defence but at the same time they have some of the best attackers in the game. Names like Remi Wilton and Jamie Anne Wright who create the opportunities for the likes of Lilly Bennett, Kayla Tyrell and Kira Campbell have speed to burn and are try scorers and that is only a few names. Each week this team plays their part, plays there position and also plays as a team. Rewards went to Jamie Anne, Remi Wilton, Tegan Mundy, Lilly, Kira Campbell, Laura Spicer and Romy. In only her second game, Laura Spicer scored a double. Well done to all the team.
Devils Reserves
The Narooma Devils were at home on Sunday to Pambula-Merimbula and Bemboka and it was a great day of football from 11am with four games played. The reserves lost to Bemboka but they have improved so much they were close to scoring many times in the first half. Narooma scored but held up in the first five minutes. Tempers frayed and one player from Bemboka was sent off and a Devil did 10 in the bin with another Bemboka player.
Narooma was pressuring Bemboka’s line but couldn't break through to score. The Narooma lads were really handing it to them and they scored twice before half time.
18-nil Bemboka.
After half time Bemboka scored several more times and at long last captain coach Aaron Williams scooted up the sideline and scored. Marley Blair converted to make the final score 48-6.
The final scores didn’t indicate what a good game it was. It was tough and the opposition was spiteful at times.
Junior Devils Rugby League
Narooma versus Pambula U10s
BOTH teams were short on numbers so players from the U9s filled in to have an even contest.
The Devils started quickly and raced away to a 24-0 lead before the half-time break, but the Pambula Bulldogs hit back to score two quick tries after some very ordinary defence by the Devils. Half-time 24-10 to the Devils.
The Bulldogs scored after the break to close the score to 24-16 before the Devils decided to tighten up their defence and go onto the attack.
Some great ball work gave outside player’s clear space and some good tries resulted.
All players contributed to the 44-20 win but four tires to Shayla Moreton was the highlight.
Thanks to the U9 players for helping out. A big game looms next week against a red hot Bega team so the Devils will have to improve their defence to be in the game.
Narooma versus Pambula U8s
ON Saturday the U8 Narooma Devils travelled to Pambula to play against the Bulldogs team. All players travelled which was pleasing, but again, unfortunately only four 10 minute quarters were allocated for the two Narooma teams to play. As a team we tried a few things to give the young players a go and swapped a few positions around. The Bulldog opposition was very good on their home ground and scored six tries to the Narooma four. Narooma individually played well with more of an effort needed in defence and training.
Riley, Rueban and Daniel had good games and did not stop trying. Narooma could have quite easily scored another four tries but the Bulldogs effort in defence dragged the Narooma players down short of the line. The added pressure in defence also caused a few silly mistakes to be made. It was still a very good effort by Narooma. This week we play Bega at Bega in another hard contest.
