The traineeships came to fruition through a massive combined effort between Estia manager Loretta Creevey, Estia's Registered Nurse and trainer Helen Carr, Wesley Employment and Training's placement services officer Lin Wilton, employment consultant Keryn Bobbin and registered training organisation Anglicare's Carina Severs.
Loretta and Estia Dalmeny want to invest in the future of Estia and hand select and train the participants in-house in preparation for a career in Aged Care.
The course is being held two days a week over approximately 16 weeks and at the completion of the training, the participants will gain a Nationally Recognised Certificate III in Aged Care.
Health and community services is one of the largest industries of growth in the next 10 years and the opportunities are endless once gaining entry via completing an Aged Care qualification.
Loretta opened the eyes of participants in information sessions held in April and outlined the requirements of the training and the role and what the jobseekers may expect in a normal working environment.
Some of the avenues that trainees may consider in the future are personal carers, registered nurse, paramedic, activities officer, grounds and maintenance staff, catering and administration and human resources staff. The dynamic group of participants range in age, gender, background and reside between Moruya and Bermagui.
They are all enjoying the one-day classroom and one day on the job training and have been given a warm welcome from Estia staff and residents alike.
Estia should be congratulated on their vision to grow and enhance their workforce and establishment.
