Round 4, May 17, versus Moruya Swans at Moruya
THE Narooma U7 White tips played a great match on Sunday against the Moruya Swans at Moruya. There were some excellent passing skills displayed by the team as well as some lightning individual runs both resulting in some fantastic goals. Great goals scored by Ruben Smithers, Henry Niemoeller, Finn Efraemson and Frank Friskin. NSSC Player of the match this week was Riley Atkins who in only his third match showed great improvement. Well done team.
News from other teams:
The U13s had a home game against Batemans Bay. The team struggled to find their form against their under-strength opponents, leaving their usual strong positional play back in the club house. Despite this, they scored several goals.
With a half time talking to from coach-for-the-day, Chris Spurgeon, the second half was a much better team performance with the additional challenge of beating Narooma star goalie, Digger Cowie, who stepped into the opposition goals to lend a hand. It was another big win for the U13s featuring strong individual performances from Kurt Zideluns, Jarrah Seaman and NSSC Player of the Match, Digger Cowie.
U10/11 Spiders
THE sun blazed down on the home game pitting Narooma U10/11 Spiders against Bodalla Gold on Sunday. In what was a fierce and unrelenting game, both teams played their hearts out. The Spiders worked so well together, this time Jacob and Ruben bearing the brunt of Bodalla attacking the goals. The ball was constantly in the Narooma attacking half but the Bodalla defence was outstanding, stopping the ball time and time again. The great team effort for the Spiders was reflected in the three way tie for Players player between Jarrod Manton, who didn't stop running or trying, Callum James the big gun of our defence who also had a run in attack, and Jacob Sultana who won for his consistent effort and fresh kegs in the second half.
Kupah Martin was our pocket rocket once again with the fanciest footwork on the South Coast. Liam Mahony had nerves of steel, nailing the penalty goal. Sam and Ripley were always reliable in defence while Josh Ryan set up key plays over and over. The Bodalla side were too strong in the end; the score was Bodalla Gold 3, Narooma Spiders 1.
Youth girls
NAROOMA Bodalla Youth Girls started the game well against Clyde United going forward from the kick off.
The game went from end to end neither side able to find the net. Clyde United is a physical side yet the girls were equal to the task and held them scoreless for most of the game. Once again our defence was excellent.
The girls tried very hard and were close to scoring several times. Clyde united ended up scoring late in the game and that was the only goal of the match. It was a pleasing result for the girls considering the same side beat them three weeks ago 5 goals to 2. We have a great squad of girls who are improving every week.
The whole team played well and did not give up and were again finishing on top and were unlucky not to equal the score.
The player of the match, Cecilia Colom-Davis never stopped trying and is improving every game. Go the Lime Green Mean Machine.
