Narooma Ladies League Tag team clenched another victory against the Eden Tigers at Eden on Sunday. This is the "She-Devils" seventh straight victory winning 42 to nil and they stand undefeated going into Round 8 of the comp. The girls have a tough game next week against Bega at Bega.
Narooma Devils U10s versus Bega
PLAYING Bega at Bega is always a challenge. Bega have been going very well in the Under 10’s so the Devils had to be on their game.
The Devils started well and attacked from the start leaving a shocked Bega team wondering what hit them.
A strong all round effort from the Devils saw a half time score of 20 to 6.
Open play and good passing in the second half saw the Devils race away to a 42-12 win. It was a great effort by all players with some great team and individual efforts.
Byron Lonsdale-Patten had a mighty game with Ethan (Six Pack) Griffiths tackling well above his weight and Bryce Hastie is in great form.
A bye next week will leave us in second spot at the end of Round 1.
Narooma Devils U8s versus Bega
ON Saturday the Narooma Devil's U8 team travelled to Bega to play against the strong Bega Roosters' team. The team trained well during the week with all players thinking about their job out on the field. Narooma missed a few with Hunter, Jyarah and Elsa missing, so it was up to the others to step up. Narooma started well with some strong runs and Luke snuck down the blind for the first try. A few minutes later after some more big runs Luke repeated the dose and scored another try after catching the Bega defence off guard. The Narooma completion rate was high and Bega found it very hard to get through the Narooma defence. Great start Devils.
In defence Isla, Mystery, Joey and Riley made a determined effort, with Bradley tackling nice and low. Sonny, Tom and Milo made some big runs, with Sonny enjoying the freedom outside his pivot role. The strong point of this weeks performance was definitely the defensive effort, Sam, Travis, Max, Rueban, Daniel and Luke topped the tackle count, with big tackles. Bega scored three tries on their last tackle option with more attention needed to stop this. Narooma scored eight tries, Sam (2), Rueban (2), Luke (2), Daniel (1) and Riley (1). It was great to see the team turn up and play in the way we know they can. Well done Devils. Next week we have a bye, but we are still training on Friday.
