Nepal native and Narooma chef Rosh Shrestha and his partner Fulya were delighted with the response and the generosity of those who attended on Friday and the businesses who donated items for the raffles.
Booking were so strong for Friday’s dinner that Rosh had to do two seatings.
Proceeds from the dinner and donation tins will go to the Lions Club of Kathmandu Downtown, which is now getting to areas around the city not reached before with food and water.
Rosh said he hoped to work with the local Narooma Lions club to raise more funds with the long-term goal being to rebuild schools in villages in remote areas of Nepal.
Rosh heard last week that his grandmother’s home in Kathmandu where he grew up had just been “red tagged” for demolition, and many in the mountainous nation continued to struggle to survive without the basics of shelter, food and water.
Narooma resident Pat Reid meanwhile is also organising a fundraiser for the Asha Foundations emergency appeal.
The Asha Fundraiser Emergency Appeal for work in Nepal is on at the Narooma Golf Club on Saturday, May 30 at 12.30pm.
Cost is $25 and booking is essential through Pat Reid on 0411 119 361.
The Red Cross office at Narooma Midtown meanwhile continues to accept donations for Nepal.
