LARGE rocks thrown at vehicles near Narooma High School has prompted police to issue a warning and appeal for information in regards to what they say is extremely dangerous and potentially fatal.
There have been three instances of rocks striking and causing significant damage to cars, including two cars struck around 2.30pm Thursday.
One rock smashed the front windshield of a car and another struck the side of the car.
Then around 9am Monday a third car was struck with a large rock smashing into its side.
Fortunately none of the cars’ occupants was injured but rocks thrown at vehicles have been known to cause fatalities and police are taking the matter very seriously.
Police have increased patrols and are in discussion with the high school as the rocks were thrown from bushland during school hours where the 40km/h zone changes to 80km/h.
Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Narooma police on 4476 2044 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
