The property has just sold and former owner operators Stuart Absalom and Phil Mawer are moving on, but not too far.
Stuart and Phil plan to build a new home on their property at Latimer’s Lane, Central Tilba where they plan to enjoy their retirement.
They are stoked to leave the B&B world on a high note having just received a much sought-after Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
This was the last week of operating the business after 11-and-a-half years for Stuart and Phil but the new owners will not be opening Green Gables doors to guests.
“Running the B&B has made it possible to life in this special area, close to Gulaga and the coast, and also make a living,” Stuart said.
“We have developed a strong international connection through the Sydney-Melbourne coastal drive which has allowed many guests from all over the world to experience Tilba and the wider area.
“And we have enjoyed many return guests who have become more like friends.
“It’s been a privilege and pleasure to welcome people to this special area and to contribute in a small way to the economy of the area.
“It’s also given us the opportunity to develop in a sustainable way and use vegetables and fruit from our garden, as well as be part of the flourishing locally grown push.
“And we feel very much a part of this diverse community and will be retiring here.”
