Animals in the Wild is a photographic competition that encourages animal lovers to connect with nature and oppose recreational hunting on public land.
The competition is a response to HuntFest, also being held this weekend, at Narooma.
“Animals in the Wild is part of our campaign to connect people with nature and let them know they can enjoy our wild places and shoot animals with a camera, not a gun,” Mr Shoebridge said.
“We received an overwhelming number of entries of very high quality, which portray some of Australia’s most beautiful animals.
“There are many disturbing incidents of animal cruelty associated with the hunting culture in NSW with photos regularly received by my office of native animals and birds wounded and maimed by hunters.
“Animals in the Wild demonstrates there are far more rewarding ways to enjoy nature than the HuntFest way of arming yourself and killing the animals you meet.
“The entries perfectly express how appreciating animals, and being in the Australian bush, means shooting animals with cameras, not with guns or bows and arrows,” he said.
