Deckie Michael "Milla" Muscat and skipper Brett "Crusty" O'Donnell on Hot Fishing Charters spotted the pod of around six killer whales including a big male on the shelf in front of Bermagui heading north on Saturday.
The humpback whale northerly migration continues with sporadic sightings of whales off Narooma in recent weeks.
We thought they were likely heading up to the calving humpback whales, but Narooma Charters operator Norm Ingersole had his own theory that they could be after tuna.
Narooma Charters last spotted a pod of killer whales, or orcas, off Narooma back in October 2014.
Norm said killer whales were often spotted off Narooma during the southerly humpback migration, when the whales were heading back down to Antarctic waters with their calves, but this was usually around September and October.
The humpback whale northerly migration continues with sporadic sightings of whales off Narooma in recent weeks.
The Narooma News reported this latest orca sighting to both Wild about Whales and the ORRCA organisation, including their database of orca sightings, using the #whaleon hashtag.
