THE Narooma Rugby League Football Club travelled to Moruya on Sunday and the Narooma She-Devils ladies tag team were the first to take to the field where they played an excellent game against the Moruya Sharkettes winning 26 to 10.

It was good to see Tegan back on the field especially when she managed to put Jamie-Anne through for the She-Devils first try.
Lily Bennett blitzed the opposition in a 90 metre run to score between the posts. The score was 12 nil with Jamie-Anne kicking the two goals. Half time score was Narooma 12, Moruya nil.
Then Jamie-Anne kicked the ball and followed through and gathered to score again. After she kicked the goal, the score was 18 nil.
Jamie-Anne scored a hat trick 22 to 6 and Lily scored in the last minute bringing the final score to Narooma 26 Moruya 10.
The reserves game was a one sided affair against the Devils with the score 18 minutes in, Moruya 16, Narooma nil. There was some good play by the reserve Devils with Ryan Weymouth playing a great try saving tackle and Stephen Brown continued running the ball strongly.
Moruya continued to score at random and the score was Moruya 50, Narooma nil. Then came a shock try by Narooma culminating in the final score Moruya 66, Narooma 4.
Devils club president Jaimie Wright said, “As I have said before… no train, no gain.”
“When the going gets tough, the tough are supposed to get going…
“Where were you all? We had 40 players registered at the beginning of the year… what a waste of money!” he said.
Reserves best and fairest – 3 Troy Cook, 2 Stephen Brown and 1 Joel Lanski. The coaches award went to Andrew French and players player went to Mitchell Parsons.
The first grade game started off well and very tough. The first try came to Moruya 23 minutes into the game although Narooma pressured their line most of the time. Moruya 6, Narooma nil.
Then there was a spectacular chase and a Moruya player intercepted beginning a chase by Devils coach Clint Wright that saw Moruya run the length of the field and Clint just catching him with a great tackle just before the try-line.
Moruya scored again just before half time bringing the score to 12 nil.
As much as they tried the Narooma boys didn’t score until the 64th minute when the Devils Trey Parsons scored a try.
The final score was Moruya 40, Narooma 4.
“It was a great tough game and very entertaining to watch,” president Jaimie Wright said.
“Keep it up boys and you’ll get there,” he said.

Narooma is home to Cooma at Bill Smyth Oval on Saturday with games starting at 12noon.
