Well done to the community of Tilba for organising a great community event celebrating the winter solstice and the days getting longer is certainly something to celebrate – why we can’t have daylight saving year round, I don’t know!

It was great to see all the colourful lanterns going down the street and then the Small Hall was packed with locals, young and old, enjoying warm soup and sweet cakes.
Also deserving congratulations is the Narooma Surf Life Saving Club that only five years ago was struggling with 20 or so Nippers.
Fast forward to this season and the beach hardly seemed big enough for the 130 or so Nippers each Sunday.
All these youngsters take a lot of organising, so well done to all the age managers and volunteers, but let’s hope the youngsters stay involved and if they do, the future of the club is rosy.
Ending on a sour note, we hear the Geelong Star has caught another dolphin and this one was off the coast of NSW, which means the 90m factory trawler should be banned from local waters for six months.
This is a good thing because with the Narooma Numnutz winter swimmers swimming the island this Sunday, we wouldn’t want to see any of them scooped up would we!
