Not of course swimming to 7km to the island, but rather catching a charter boat out there.
And with potentially up to 30 swimmers, they’ve had to hire the largest charter boat, the Dreamtime from Narooma Charters.
The swimmers last Sunday mixed it up again and decided to do the Australia Rock to the town wharf swim and with an incoming tide the water was 18 degrees for the 16 swimmers.
They then enjoyed a French onion soup back at O’Brien’s Hotel.
So next Sunday is the inaugural island swim and the following Sunday, July 5, the Narooma winter swimmers are heading down to swim with the Blue Balls at Bermagui.
Bermagui Blue Balls report
THE Winter Solstice ensured the air temperature was crisp but the cloudless sky and radiant sun made it one of those 'pinch yourself' mornings. The water temperature was delightful as three Blue Balls and one Blue Pointer enjoyed an extended swim in Horseshoe Bay accompanied by the two resident seals and pod of visiting dolphins. It was amazing how calm the Bay was in comparison to the rest of the local coastal waters following the storms of the previous week. It is rumoured similar conditions will prevail on September 26 and 27 when ReBoot Bermagui will be held. The ocean swim will be staged at Horseshoe Bay on Sunday, September 27 at 10am with luck in similar picture postcard conditions.
