Shortly before 8am Sunday morning, witnesses reported a man matching the description left the Dalmeny camping ground going to the adjacent supermarket where he allegedly stole alcohol.
Police then tracked down a 43-year-old man from the Sydney area at units on nearby Cresswick Parade and after a number of inquiries determined the man was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
The man was taken to Batemans Bay police station where he was charged with a further three counts of theft and bail was denied.
After further inquiries, an amount of stolen property was located in the unit, including backpacks and art equipment related to a number of stealing offences in Newtown, Sydney in March. Enquiries continue.
