The bag contained a $50 note as well as identity cards including a Victorian drivers license that had just expired, allowing police to track down the bag’s owner who had reported it stolen back in 1998.
The owner had just moved to Queensland and was delighted to be reunited with the $50, part of a sum of cash contained in the bag at the time that the thieves obviously missed.
Police don't hold out hope that anyone has any memories of the theft given it happened all those years ago!
