The Narooma swimmers were greeted by four roadside signs along the way including “Winter Ocean Swimming You Know it Makes Sense” placed on the Wallaga Lake causeway.
Bermagui swimmer Robert Johnson placed the signs that were much appreciated by the Narooma visitors, who felt like an away football team.
The swimmers then assembled on Mooreheads Beach before swimming out along the northern breakwater, in through the harbour entrance, down the river with the tide back to their parked cars.
There were 26 swimmers in total and the water temperature ranges from 18 degrees at the entrance to 14-degree shade patches in the river.
After some hot drinks and blueberry Blue Balls cake, the swimmers retired to the Bermagui Beach Hotel where publican Dave served up pumpkin soup and garlic bread.
A joint fine session was held between the clubs and Blue Balls founder Gary Pearse thanked the Narooma club for travelling down adding they were an inspiration to all.
The Blue Balls then sang their club song: “It’s cool, cool, cool…”.
