NAROOMA Blue Water Dragons held their first Presentation Dinner at Michael’s Restaurant at the Narooma Golf club on Friday, August 31 to celebrate the last two years of paddling and to present a number of awards.
Club Captain, Gilly Kearney, coordinated the night with Ingrid Wiersema, events manager at the Narooma Golf Club. The atmosphere was relaxed but those who wanted had a chance to dress up and enjoy a delicious three course sit down meal with Club members and supporters.
Club Patron, Pauline Rundle, was guest of honour and a number of former paddlers who are no longer active on the water but remain as social members were there to support the Club and catch up with old friends.
Tania Brown, the Club’s youngest Dragon, enjoyed the night almost as much as the paddling and when asked how she was finding Dragon Boating she said, “I love Dragon Boating and this club in particular. I joined the Club not knowing anyone and the Blue Water Dragons quickly made me feel welcome and right at home.”
After only a short time on the water, Tania will be attending her first regatta at Nowra later this month.
After enjoying great food and company, the night ended a bit late but paddlers backed up the next day bright and early for an energetic and challenging paddle on Wagonga Inlet into a stiff cold westerly.
Both on and off the water, Narooma Blue Water Dragons looked good and had fun.
