Narooma News editorial: Sept. 12

Well it’s just after 4pm on Tuesday and we still have no idea of who is going to be Eurobodalla mayor let alone who is going to be elected to Eurobodalla Shire Council.

Only a couple of hours ago it looked like it was going to be either Graham Scobie or Fergus Thomson but then in the last half an hour once the preferences have stated flowing, the word is that Rob Pollock is in the prime position.

It is a pity we are not able to be more definitive but that’s what happens when you have so many candidates and such a complex system.

Don’t even ask for any speculation on the actual council with the only thing certain is that ERA is confident of a few seats, but who really knows at this point!!!

Now at least we have one less worry and that is sea level rise… The State Government is relaxing restrictions on development on low-lying areas.

This seems to be in response to people in locations such as the Narooma Flat who were worried about draconian restrictions limiting development.

So let’s hope this sea level rise and climate change is indeed a hoax because we now having nothing to fear – or do we?
