Narooma man injured in highway accident

A 37-year-old Narooma man was transported The Canberra Hospital after a head-on crash north of Moruya on Thursday night.
The other person involved, an 18-year-old man, was flown to St George Hospital in Sydney in a critical condition on Thursday evening.
The Narooma man meanwhile has since been discharged from Canberra Hospital.
He was initially taken to Moruya Hospital with suspected spinal, neck and pelvic injuries and was later transported by road to Canberra.
Police said a white Nissan bluebird sedan was travelling north along the Princes Highway shortly after 4.30pm.
At the same time, a white Ford Falcon was travelling in a southerly direction. The two vehicles collided in the southbound lane.
The driver of the Nissan, the 18-year-old man, was treated at the scene and airlifted to St George Hospital.
The driver of the Ford Falcon, the Narooma man, suffered a cut to his head and possible internal injuries.
As investigations into the crash continue, any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are urged to come forward and contact Crimestoppers.
Assault arrest
POLICE were called to the club on Ballingalla Street, Narooma at 7.40pm Saturday after a 44-year-old local man was asked to leave and allegedly became involved in altercation.
He was wrestled to the floor and damaged a wall in the foyer with a part of his body.
He was arrested and charged with common assault, malicious damage and fail to quit and will appear in Narooma Local Court.
Double drink
BERMAGUI police stopped a 34-year-old Victorian man on Wallaga Lake Road for a breath test 8.25pm Friday.
His license was suspended after he recorded 0.098 and was charged with mid-range drink driving.
The man was then stopped the next morning by highway patrol in Bega for another random breath test, which he also failed, subsequently being charged with low-range drink driving and driving on a suspended license.
Bottle theft
SOMEONE forced open the metal doors on the barbecue at the Corunna Lake picnic area between Friday, July 17 and last Tuesday stealing two gas bottles.

Cannabis found
POLICE spoke to a 57-year-old man on Dalmeny Drive 8.30am Monday and after a search located an amount of cannabis. He was charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
Unregistered driver
A 33-year-old male driver stopped on Wallaga Lake Road, Bermagui at a random breath test 8.50pm Saturday was found to be driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
Phone fines
POLICE continue to watch for drivers using mobile phones and last Tuesday afternoon stopped a man in his 70s driving on the Princes Highway, Narooma while using his mobile phone.
Bermagui police spotted a 29-year-old male driver on a phone in the town’s school zone 9am last Wednesday, and he was charged using a phone, failing to display P-plates and exceeding the speed limit.
The fine for phone use in a school zone is $425, compared to the normal $319.
Tree down
POLICE called to a downed tree across the Princes Highway, Narooma 4pm Sunday found that someone with a chainsaw had cleared the tree themselves.
Parking issues
COBARGO police fined drivers for parking in non-parking areas in the centre of town last week, while police are also planning to step up patrols of Ballingalla and Pilot streets, Narooma during school drop off times after reports that parents are illegally stopping and forcing other vehicles to illegally cross the centre line.
