Finalists' short films will be screened and winners announced at the Awards Night and free public screenings at Merimbula, Narooma and Batemans Bay on Monday, September 7.

"We received more entries this year than ever before, the standard is getting higher and higher,” South East Arts general manager Andrew Gray said.

“These finalists represent the cream of the crop, they are creative, technical and can tell a great story, all in under seven minutes each."

Finalists are vying for over $5000 worth of prizes in cash and development workshops from author J.D. Shaw, Bega Valley Shire Council, Eurobodalla Shire Council, ABC Open, Gooseboy Productions, Oh'Allmhurain Films and South East Arts.

This is the only youth short film competition in the South East region of New South Wales.

The local finalists for YOOFTube 2015 are:

“The South Coast with Two Mates” by Lachlan Callender of Bodalla

“Famous in a Week” by Vincent Edwards and Thomas Gardner of Tuross Head

“Hold On” by Samantha Sly from Narooma

Young 14-year-old film maker Lachlan Callender of Bodalla and his two mates Bryn Flower and Harry Phillips spent weeks filming the movie using a Go-Pro and Nikon D3200 cameras.

The film features some great surfing moments and camping footage near Coila Beach near Tuross.

All finalists' short films will be shown on the big screens at Merimbula, Batemans Bay and at the Narooma Kinema.

“This is a great chance to see these future film makers in action and for their families and friends to come along and show them support," Mr Gray said.

All films are equivalent to a PG rating or less, please note some youth issues are addressed such as depression, bullying and suicide.
