Thoughts are with the family of the fisherman lost off the rocks at South Durras last week and it shows just how no fish or fishing session is worth your life.
I attended a couple of fantastic events over the weekend starting with the opening of the region’s latest gallery – Apma Creations at the top of the hill as you head down Corkhill Drive to Central Tilba.
There was a fantastic turn out with the sheds packed out!
This is a new indigenous gallery and let’s hope it can be tied in with the reopening of the Umburra Cultural Centre at Wallaga Lake.
These are great resources not only for local artists but also for tourists, especially international visitors who want to experience some of our Aboriginal culture.
Speaking of culture, the talk by adventurer Tim Cope and music by Mongolian throat singer Bukhu at Four Winds on Sunday was amazing.
It truly was inspirational and made you want to head off to the ends of the Earth on your own adventure.
Finally, on a more serious note Eurobodalla councillors are next week due to decide the fate of the Narooma Visitors Centre.
One local tourism operator, who wanted to remain anonymous, went on a massive journey to every visitor centre between here and Adelaide including at Federation Square, Melbourne.
We have his detailed notes about how each centre operated.
He found that while many rely on volunteers, they almost all also had paid staff and support of local government – so let’s see if that remains the case here in Narooma!
