What a night watching the Liberal leadership spill last night. It was rather a surprise to see our local Federal Member be one of those walking in with his chosen candidate – in his case Malcolm Turnbull.

Hendy’s thoughts on the whole issue can be read on Page 2 of the paper, while our cartoonist Brian Todd has Tony Abbott coming to Narooma for fishing holiday.
Abbott coincidentally came to Narooma back in 2010 during the election and was pictured holding a fishing rod on one of the charter boats – but that very much was a photo opportunity and there was no bait or fishing involved.
Both Hendy and the town’s oyster growers are banking on the China free trade agreement going forward, as this could be a big boost for oyster sales and also the Narooma area economy.
The visitor centre privatisation push by council continues to generate some debate in the community.
It is frustrating that council can’t tell me or anyone else what the level of interest is in taking on the centres as a business or how many expressions of interest had been received so far.
I guess we will have to wait until October 26. In the meantime, there are other leads to pursue, including whether the Queanbeyan visitor centre was privatised only to be taken back under council management.
