IT was another tough day in Wagonga Inlet for Darren “Dash” Bowater and his son Riley (pictured) as the windy conditions made it almost impossible to fish last Thursday.

Luckily the salmon didn't seem to mind the wind as they come out to play twice during the day making the day a worthwhile trip.
“Got to love Sambos on a hot bite yeeoowwew,” Dash said.
The Narooma Ocean Hut Compleat Angler reported that young Will Tiffen from Dalmeny had a cracker of a day on Wagonga with his mate Jack Clarke from Leeton. Left the old boys hanging for a break by the end of the day apparently!
The estuaries and rivers up and down the coast are firing up, and Narooma News journalist Stan Gorton got a nice bream and some flathead south of Bermagui.
Those getting out after the big flow found some snappers on local reefs around Montague Island and most likely up off Tuross Head too.
Bermi Bait & Tackle reports some small mulloway being caught in the Bermagui River on a regular basis and also a number of Flathead PB's being broken on lakes to the south.
Graham at Tackleworld Moruya said VIP member Liam reported good size bream being caught from Ryan's creek right down to the break wall.
Liam was using small soft plastics like berkley gulp in the 3" Nemesis matched with 1/20th size 2 fuze jig head. While Liam was doing this his girlfriend Justine was catching flatties with a heavier jig head with the same soft plastic.
On the rocks and beaches, before this crappy weather turned up good numbers of salmon, tailor and bream were being caught along most beachs .
Salted pilles and beach worms rigged on a paternoster rig are your best bet, Graham says.
The weather is clearing so maybe just leave the fishing for the next day but new gutters would have been formed which brings in new opportunities .
For offshore before the weather turned bad, one Graham’s VIP members reported good numbers of sand flatties being caught on fish bait in around 25 meters of water with nice snapper also being caught out around the 50 meters of water, gummy sharks are starting to show up also .
If its yellowfin tuna you’re after some good fish up to 60 kilo were caught, mainly cubing was the way to catch these fish.
Jacob Gorgievski from Blackbutt meanwhile sent us in a photo to the Fish Files page of him having some school holiday fishing fun up at Windang.
Narooma Sport and Game Fishing Club news
THE wind finally stopped on Sunday enough for the inlet to be fished, giving grandad Les Waldock a chance to take his grandson Reid McNamara, a junior member of the club, out fishing in his new boat.
Reid caught several good size snapper, one being 30cm, well done! All fish were released.
Due to the weather being a bit unreliable we took the family down to the club for a bit of a barbecue and to let the kids fish off the back deck, again the junior members Aliesha McPherson and Benjamin De Bear out did the adults with a nice bream each.
These fish did not go back into the water as the kids insisted they go straight onto the barbeque and they were delicious, could not get much fresher
I may add this was young Benjamin’s first fish, hope he shall have a lot more.
As usual the Narooma Sport and Game Fishing Club rooms, situated on Riverside Drive near the Inlet restaurants and the boat ramp, is open for drinks and snacks from 4pm till 9pm every Friday.
Visitors are most welcome to come along and have a chat with the members, share fish stories (greatly enhanced after the first drink), make some new friends, cook a steak on the barbecue or maybe even some fish. – Jan Hemmingsen
