Riders, skaters and walkers headed off from Apex Park up the Dalmeny-Narooma shared pathway toward Dalmeny before turning back at various points to return to the finish travelling up to 12km.
Then there were some fun family activities, prizes and a barbecue back at the park.
The event was organised by Narooma Public School P&C in partnership with Eurobodalla Shire Council to celebrate NSW Bike Week. Funds raised on the day will go to the P&C to purchase equipment for the school’s music program.
Council’s road safety officer Heidi Hanes said the Narooma-Dalmeny shared pathway provided a safe environment for new and less confident bike riders to improve their riding skills.
Fundraising coordinator for Narooma Public School P&C Rachael Niemoeller said around 200 people of all ages participated, one woman coming all the way from Sydney, and around $2000 was raised.
The event was so successful it is hoped it will be an annual event, she said.
“The Narooma Public School P & C are grateful to all teachers and parents who gave up their Saturday to be a part of the event. Your support is invaluable, thank you,” she said.
“Thank you also to Eurobodalla Shire Council, who’s staff assisted us in many aspects of making the event come together, we could not have asked for more from you.
“Thank you very much to the local businesses who supported us, your generosity is appreciated. It was a wonderful day out enjoying the incredible resource that the Narooma Dalmeny bike track is. Thank you for coming and hope to see you again next year.”
