Local business people and entrepreneurs can connect with experts by attending a breakfast forum at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club or by arranging for the participating agencies to visit their business in Batemans Bay or Moruya.
Those who prefer a drop-in approach can visit the Small Biz Bus in Clyde Street, Batemans Bay from 9am to 3pm to meet their local Small Biz Connect advisor.
Thursday’s event is called a Regional Activation Forum and Eurobodalla Mayor Lindsay Brown says it comes to the region thanks to the partnership between the council, the NSW Small Business Commissioner, and the NSW Business Chamber.
“Our partnership means Eurobodalla has been selected to be part of the Regional Activation program which will see the NSW Government providing small business opportunities through specialised programs, assistance and tools to support skills development,” he said.
“The events in Batemans Bay on Thursday are the start of the program, which will also see customer service and visual merchandise training later this year and early next year.”
Cr Brown said working with other levels of government to get these support services in the area was an important part of the council’s business development strategy.
“One of the problems regularly raised with me by business is the impact of penalty rates on businesses who trade on the weekend and public holidays,” Cr Brown said.
“The Regional Activation Forum on Thursday will be the opportunity to discuss such issues with the relevant government agency.”
Agencies visiting with the NSW Small Business Commissioner are Small Biz Connect, Service NSW, Safe Work NSW, Office of Regional Development, State Training Services, NSW Food Authority, NSW Department of Industry, Australian Small Business Commissioner, Australian Taxation Office, Australian Human Rights Commissioner, Fair Work Ombudsman, and AusIndustry.
